Olga Esina was born in St Petersburg and studied at the Vaganova Academy from 1996 to 2004. She danced principal classical roles with the Mariinsky Ballet from 2004 to 2006, including Odette/Odile.
She joined the Vienna State Opera and Volksoper as a soloist in 2006 and became a first soloist of the Vienna State Ballet in 2010. Her Vienna roles include Odette/Odile in Nureyev’s Swan Lake, recorded on DVD in 2014, and Aurora in Peter Wright’s The Sleeping Beauty.
