Mihály Könyves-Tóth joined the Hungarian State Opera in 2012. He studied in Budapest with Roland Bakó, Kálmán Kovács Jr. and János Kirsch, and took master classes with Gábor Boldoczki, Gábor Tarkövi, Tamás Velenczei and Jeroen Berwaerts.
He won first place at the 2011 Debrecen national trumpet competition in the master category and at the 2013 Budapest national competition, with further prizes in Debrecen, Budapest and Ulm.
