Masayu Kimoto was born in Hyogo, Japan, and trained at the Nakata Ballet Theater in Himeji, École Supérieure de Danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower, and the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris. He joined Semperoper Ballett Dresden in 2006 and the Vienna company in 2008.

He became a Vienna State Ballet demi-soloist in 2011, soloist in 2013 and first soloist in 2017. His roles include James in Lacotte’s La Sylphide, Basil and Siegfried in Nureyev productions, and Albrecht in Tchernichova’s Giselle.
