Maria Yakovleva trained at the Vaganova Ballet Academy and danced at the Mariinsky Theatre and as a soloist, then first soloist, of the Vienna State Ballet before joining the Hungarian State Opera in 2022. She is étoile of the Hungarian National Ballet for 2025/26.
Her repertory includes Kitri, Odette/Odile, Manon, Aurora and Tatiana. Digitár bills her on David Coleman’s nights as Gala in The Pygmalion Effect, Tatiana in Onegin, Swanilda in Coppélia and Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty.
