Arne Vandervelde grew up in Hoeilaart, Belgium, and trained at the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp. After graduating in 2013 he joined the Royal Ballet of Flanders, dancing Prince Désiré in Marcia Haydée’s The Sleeping Beauty among other roles.
He moved to the Vienna State Ballet in 2016, became a demi-soloist in 2019 and a soloist in 2022/23. His Vienna roles include Colas in Ashton’s La Fille mal gardée, Franz in Lacotte’s Coppélia, Basil and Siegfried in Nureyev productions, and Lenski in Cranko’s Onegin.
